ANDY BURK
Comming to the Sportsman Expo at the Lassen County Fair
Andy Burk was born in Redding, California in 1966 and raised in the small town of Susanville in Northeastern California. Instilled with a passion for the outdoors from a very early age by his parents he began flyfishing and fly-tying at the age of twelve. It didn*t take long for him to decide that he needed to pursue a fly fishing and fly tying oriented life. Andy fished every day that he could before, during and after school, nights were spent holed up in his room learning to tie and create flies.
* Upon graduating from high school Andy took his first job in the fly fishing industry, guiding and working at Bob Brinks Spring Creek Anglers shop in Burney, California. After four years of constant fishing, guiding and fly tying on Hat Creek, Fall River and the McCloud Andy was offered a position at the Fly Shop in Redding. He spent the next ten years at the Fly Shop. During his time at the Fly Shop he began writing for a variety of fly fishing publications including Flyfishing, Fly Tier, American Angler, Field and Stream and of course California Fly Fisher. His At the Vise column in California Fly Fisher has appeared in every issue of the magazine except the first one.
*In 1998 Andy moved to Reno, Nevada where he works for Dave Stanley at the Reno Fly Shop. For several years Andy managed and ran Truckee River Outfitters, the Reno Fly Shops satellite store in Truckee, California. Andy continues to fish, write, paint and create new fly designs from his home base in Reno where he lives with his number one fishing partner Kate and their dog Rosie.
